CSU Tennis adds a pair of Division 1 transfers
The Colorado State tennis team has announced the additions of a pair of Division 1 transfers for the 2018-19 season. Stella Cliffe and Nancy Ghanem have each transferred to CSU and will compete with the Rams this season.
Cliffe comes to CSU from Eastern Illinois, where she spent the past two seasons. Ghamen competed in the ACC with Virginia Tech for first two seasons of collegiate action.
“I’m looking forward to having them both on the team,” head coach Jarod Camerota said. “They’re both great people and come with high recommendations. They will help our program both on the courts and in the classroom and community.”
Cliffe, a native of Auckland, Australia, went 15-9 in dual matches last season, playing in both the No. 1 and 2 spots. Cliffe earned first-team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors for her performance and was twice named the ITA Scholar-Athlete. Cliffe was 14-8 at No. 1 singles as a freshman, including a 7-1 mark in OVC play.
Ghanem, a native of Cairo, Egypt, was 5-2 last season in singles action, only appearing in fall tournaments. She went 5-10 in singles as a freshman in 2016-17, including a four-match win streak to begin spring 2017. She also partnered with Sansitha Nandakumar and advanced to the round of 32 in doubles action at the ITA Atlantic Regionals in 2016.
