V.J. Banks expected to play through injury

In Friday night’s loss to Wyoming, senior defensive back separated his right shoulder and now has a torn labrum, according to his mother, Mary.

Despite getting injured the Border War, Banks is expected to try and play in the remaining three games on the schedule. Due to the bye week, Mike Bobo did not hold his weekly press conference Monday, so the fourth-year head coach has not confirmed whether Banks will be able to suit up for the Nov. 10 matchup with Nevada or not.

If the senior defensive back is not able to go, it would not only be a substantial loss from a leadership standpoint, but Colorado State’s secondary would also be losing one of its key contributors. In nine games in 2018, Banks has 22 total tackles, four pass deflections and two interceptions. The only other player with multiple interceptions on the roster is safety Jordan Fogal (2), and only Rashad Ajayi (6) has more pass breakups.
