Prentice named 2018 Burlsworth Trophy nominee
Adam Prentice was named a nominee for the Burlsworth Trophy for the second time in his career Tuesday. The annual award is presented to the most outstanding football player, who began his career as a walk-on and has shown outstanding performance on the field.
The sophomore fullback is one of 69 total nominees for the award. According to the official website for the Burlsworth Trophy, each nominee began his career with an FBS football program without receiving financial aid of any kind from his university's athletic department.
Prentiss originally joined the program as a walk-on prior to the 2015 season, before redshirting during his first year on campus. He was named the team’s starting fullback and awarded a scholarship during preseason camp in 2016, but was forced to miss the entire season after tearing his ACL.
The Civil engineering major returned in 2017 and had a successful season. So far in 2018, Prentice has played in all nine games for the Rams and currently leads the Rams with seven special teams tackles. Over the last two seasons, Prentice has appeared in every Colorado State game, making 10 starts in that span.
