Report: Former CSU defensive coordinator Tyson Summers linked to open CU job

Tyson Summers may be returning to the Centennial State. According to Colorado Buffaloes beat reporter, Chase Howell, the former Colorado State defensive coordinator and Georgia Southern head coach will be Mel Tucker’s defensive coordinator in Boulder.

Summers, 38 years old, was the defensive coordinator at the University of Central Florida from 2012-14, before joining Mike Bobo at CSU in 2015. Following his one season in Fort Collins, Summers was head coach at Georgia Southern for two seasons (2016-17) and worked as a defensive assistant for Kirby Smart at Georgia this year.

In his one season as defensive coordinator of the Rams, CSU ranked 64th out of 128 teams in the FBS in points allowed per game (27.2).
