CSU football releases first official depth chart of 2018
Colorado State football released its first official depth chart of the 2018 season Saturday. The announcement comes one week prior to the Rams' first game of the year against Hawai'i at Canvas Stadium on Aug. 25.
Most of the positions were not very surprising, but the Rams' starting lineup features a mix of youth and experience. Four freshman will start against Hawai'i including offensive tackle Barry Wesley, who walked onto the program and redshirted in 2017, before earning a scholarship in training camp this summer. Along with Wesley, fellow freshmen, defensive tackle Devin Phillips, cornerback Rashad Ajayi and long-snapper Ross Reiter will start this season as well.
The young guns are not the only newcomers in the starting lineup though. Washington graduate transfer K.J. Samuels will be starting under center at quarterback and Rice graduate transfer V.J. Banks will be starting at cornerback for the Rams in the 2018. When also factoring in starting safety Jordan Fogal (Utah), No. 1 wide receiver Preston Williams (Tennessee) and backup left tackle T.J. Roundtree (Louisville), CSU has four former Power 5 players that will regularly see the field.
