Local wide receiver Bisi Johnson named to Senior Bowl watch list
Following a monster individual performance against Hawaii, senior wide receiver Olabisi Johnson was named to the 2018-19 Senior Bowl watch list earlier this week.
In the loss to Hawaii, Johnson totaled six catches for 157 receiving yards and two touchdowns. His final total of 157 receiving yards were the most yards Johnson has ever recorded in a regular season game.
Johnson does own the program record for receiving yards in a bowl game though. As a sophomore, Johnson, who is nicknamed "The Standard" for his work ethic, finished the 2016 Famous Idaho Potato Bowl with 265 yards on seven receptions.
In 2017, the Lakewood, Colo. native had a career-best 41 receptions for 595 yards last season. In 39 career games, Johnson has 1,380 receiving yards on 77 receptions and nine touchdowns. Although Johnson has been overshadowed by players like Joe Hansley, Michael Gallup and Rashard Higgins in his career, Johnson has been a four-year contributor for the Rams and has consistently seen his NFL stock rise.
This week, Colorado head coach Mike Macintyre told local beat reporters that CSU has "three really good wide receivers" but "Bisi (Johnson) is a football player. They're really, really talented." He also added that Johnson could make an NFL roster next season.
The 70th annual Reese’s Senior Bowl will take place on January 26, 2019 in Mobile, Ala., at 1:30 p.m. CT. In last season's Senior Bowl, former CSU wide receiver Michael Gallup led the North team with 60 receiving yards.
