CSU football announces trio of future football games

Colorado State football announced three future football games on Thursday, including a home-and-home series with Middle Tennessee in 2022 and 2023 and a home game versus South Dakota State in 2021.

Following a successful 2018 season in which South Dakota State went 10-3 and reached the national semifinal for a second consecutive year, the Jackrabbits finished third in both major Football Championship Subdivision polls.

With the Jackrabbits coming to Fort Collins in 2021, CSU has now completed its non-conference schedule for that season. The Rocky Mountain Showdown will be on a temporary hiatus, so the Rams will be hosting South Dakota State on Sept. 4, before Vanderbilt comes to town on Sept. 11. Finally, CSU will travel to Toledo on Sept. 18 and Iowa on Sept. 25.

Colorado State is 2-0 all-time against South Dakota State, winning at home in 1965 and at South Dakota State in 1966.

For the 2022 season, CSU’s athletic director Joe Parker had already announced games at Michigan on Sept. 3 and at Washington State on Sept. 17. The Rams’ first known home game in 2022 will be against Middle Tennessee State on Sept. 10. CSU will return the favor and travel to Middle Tennessee for a road game on Sept. 23, 2023.
