Trent Matthews hired by Northern Colorado

Trent Matthews has been hired as an outside linebackers coach by the University of Northern Colorado.

Matthews played safety at Colorado State from 2011-15 and made 50 starts during that time. Matthews recorded 273 total tackles (135 solo), 10 interceptions and deflected 33 passes in his collegiate career. After graduating in 2015, Matthews returned to CSU as a graduate assistant under Mike Bobo in 2018.

By going to UNC, Matthews will rejoin Marty English, who was hired as the Bears defensive coordinator in 2018. English is a UNC alum and has had multiple stints as a coach in Greeley. From 2012-17, English primarily served as the defensive coordinator at CSU.
