Rams picked to finish 8th in Mountain West

Colorado State men’s basketball was picked to finish eighth in the Mountain West by the media in the annual preseason poll, the league announced at the MW Media Summit in Las Vegas. The Rams finished 11-21 and won only four conference games last season, but the team will look much different in 2018-19.

According the the preseason poll, Nevada is once again the favorite to win the league. The Wolfpack received 18-of-19 possible first place votes and also had a variety of individuals recognized as well. Jordan Caroline, Caleb Martin and Cody Martin were all named to the preseason All-Mountain West team. Caleb Martin was also tabbed the Preseason Conference Player of the Year and Jordan Brown was listed as the Preseason Freshman of the Year.

Along with Nevada, San Diego State also received one first place vote. The Aztecs finished fourth in the league last season, but made a run in the Mountain West Tournament and ultimately defeated New Mexico in the championship game to sneak into the NCAA Tournament.

The rest of the top-5 was rounded out by New Mexico (No. 3), Boise State (No. 4) and Fresno State (No. 5). The media also picked No. 6 UNLV and No. 7 Wyoming to finish ahead of the Rams.
