CSU escapes with narrow victory over Montana State

Led by senior guard Tyler Hall, Montana State came into Moby Arena and nearly handed Colorado State men’s basketball its first loss of the 2018-19 season. After trailing for the vast majority of the game, the Rams were able to hold the Bobcats to just one successful field goal in the final four minutes, and ultimately stole an 81-77 victory over MSU, despite giving up 30 points to Hall in the process.

Hall was phenomenal from the field, finishing the narrow loss 10-of-20, with six rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes of action. Unfortunately for the 6-foot-4 veteran guard, nobody else was able to do a whole lot for Montana State though.

Offensively, it was a bit of a struggle for CSU in the early stages of game as the Rams struggled to hit open jump shots. The Rams only made 4-of-17 attempts from beyond the arch in the first half, and three of them were made by Lorenzo Jenkins.

By the end of the game, CSU was only 20 percent from 3-point territory (6-of-30), but luckily for head coach Niko Medved, the Rams owned a 20-point advantage in the paint (40-20).

CSU will return to action next Monday in the Gulf Coast Tournament against Louisiana-Lafayette.
