CSU men's basketball finalizes 2018-19 schedule

The Colorado State men's basketball program finalized its 2018-19 schedule earlier this month and it is highlighted with four opponents that competed in the 2017-18 NCAA Tournament.

CSU will open the season under first-year head coach Niko Medved with an exhibition against Colorado Christian on Wednesday, Nov. 7. The 2018 season will be the 10th consecutive year that the Rams kick things off with an in-state matchup. The last time that CSU started the season against an opponent from outside of the state of Colorado was in 2008-09 when the Rams defeated Division II program Chadron State, 94-78.

Following the exhibition with CCU, CSU will host Arkansas Pine Bluff on Nov. 10 and Montana State on Nov. 14, before competing in three games at the Gulf Coast Showcase in Fort Myers, Fla. during Nov. 19-21.

The Rams then close out the month of November with the MWC-MVC Challenge, hosting Southern Illinois on Nov. 27. In recent MWC-MVC Challenges, CSU has lost to Missouri State (2017) and Wichita State (2016). 2018 will be the final installment of the annual contest between mid-majors, as announced by the leagues earlier this summer.

CSU will ring in the holiday season with a road contest at Colorado on Dec. 1. The Rams will be looking to defeat their in-state rivals for a third-straight year.

After the Rocky Mountain Showdown, Medved and the Rams return to Moby Arena for three-straight games. CSU starts the home stand with Arkansas coming to Fort Collins for the first time in program history on Dec. 5. The game is a "White Out", meaning fans are encouraged to wear white clothing.

The matchup with the Razorbacks is followed by home games against Sam Houston State (Dec. 8) and South Dakota (Dec. 16).

Finally, the Rams conclude the non conference portion of the schedule with a pair of familiar opponents. CSU travels to Long Beach State on Dec. 22 and hosts New Mexico State on Dec. 30. NMSU defeated CSU 89-76 at home in 2017, but lost 64-61 when the Aggies came to Moby Arena in 2016. The last time that CSU went to Long Beach, Calif., the Rams lost on a buzzer-beater in 2016.
