Schedule finalized for Gulf Coast Showcase
Colorado State men's basketball will compete in the Gulf Coast Showcase, hosted by Florida Gulf Coast University from Nov. 19-21 and the schedule for the event is now set.
The tournament- which is designed to feature only mid-major basketball programs- will pit the Rams against the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the opening round on Monday Nov. 19. The matchup with the Ragin' Cajuns is scheduled to tipoff at 3:00 p.m. MT.
If the Rams were to defeat the Ragin' Cajuns, they would advance to face either FGCU or Toledo in the second round. Game times for Tuesday and Wednesday will be the same as Monday with semifinal games on Nov. 20 at 3:00/5:30 p.m. MT. Wednesday’s championship game will tip at 5:30.
The 2018 Gulf Coast Showcase lineup features a diverse field of teams, including four teams that wons 20 or more games and its respective league title.
“I think it speaks volumes of how this event has grown since 2013 when you have two very recognizable programs such as Tulane and Colorado State, and yet they are not among your four top teams from last season in this field,” said Brooks Downing.
“And to have FGCU back in the event with new coach Michael Fly hands down makes this our best tournament field yet.”
