Rams earn season sweep over the Falcons with blowout victory

Colorado State’s winless streak in conference games away from Moby Arena finally came to an end Saturday.

CSU men’s basketball defeated Air Force, 85-53, at Clune Arena, in what was a solid showing on both ends of the floor. Prior to Saturday’s victory over the Academy, CSU’s last road win over a Mountain West opponent was on Jan. 13, 2018 (Wyoming, 78-73).

In the dominant performance, CSU held Air Force to just 33.3 percent shooting from the floor, while shooting 61.1 percent themselves. The Rams were better from beyond the arch, more dominant on the glass and received better production from its second unit.

In total, CSU had four of its scorers finish with 10 points or more, and eight different players recorded at least two field goals. Leading the way was redshirt junior forward Nico Carvacho, who recorded his 14th double-double this season with 20 points and 14 rebounds in 28 minutes.

'While the ‘Big Chile’ shouldered a large portion of the offensive production, CSU benefitted from solid guard play. J.D. Paige (10) and Kris Martin (10) each were in the starting lineup and recorded 10 points apiece. Anthony Masinton-Bonner provided a spark off the bench as well, with 16 points on 6-of-7 shooting.

The Rams will return home for a big-time matchup with No. 8 Nevada on Wednesday. For the second time ever, CSU will be wearing its State Pride uniforms.
