Rams to travel to Duke in 2019-20
This is March! Okay, well actually it’s May - but the spirit of March Madness is in the air.
Colorado State men’s basketball will travel to Cameron Indoor Stadium during the upcoming season to face the mighty Duke Blue Devils on Friday, Nov. 8.
"I think it's a great opportunity for our program and our players to play on college basketball's biggest stage," head coach Niko Medved said in a release. "To play a program with the tradition and history of Duke in an iconic building like this is one that every college basketball player wants in their career. We are looking forward to the challenge."
CSU has faced Duke twice in the last 20 years. In the 2003 NCAA Tournament, CSU competed well with the Blue Devils, ultimately losing 67-57 to the No. 3 seed in the opening round. Matt Nelson led the Rams with 21 points and kept CSU close throughout.
The Rams also faced Duke on December 7, 2011. CSU was defeated at Duke, 87-64. Forward Greg Smith led the Rams with 18 points in the contest.
All-time, CSU is 3-9 against teams from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Rams finished the 2018-19 season with a record of 12-20, and were 0-2 against Power 5 schools.
