Halley Havlicek named MW Defensive Player of the Week

Colorado State women’s soccer is 2-0-1 over its last three games and stellar defense has been key. For her efforts in last week’s shutouts, junior defender Halley Havlicek was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week by the conference Monday.

Havlicek is the second CSU player to be earn Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2018, and third player to earn an individual accolade. Junior goalkeeper Hunter Peifer was named MW Defensive Player of the Week in August and senior midfielder Beth Plentl was named MW Offensive Player of the Week in September.

With three weekly conference honors this season, only Boise State (4) has more than CSU. Prior to the 2018 season, the Rams only had one player named the offensive or defensive player of the week in five seasons.

CSU will be on the road for its next two matches. The Rams will travel to San Jose State on Oct. 12 for a matchup with the Spartans (7:30 p.m. MT). CSU will then face Fresno State Bulldogs at 1 p.m. MT on Oct. 14.
