Hillyer named MW Offensive POW, third-consecutive Ram to earn weekly honor
Kirstie Hillyer was named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by league offices Monday. Hillyer has now earned four career conference weekly awards in her illustrious career.
The middle-blocker is more known for her defense after leading the team in blocks in each of the last two seasons, but Hillyer played a crucial role on offense in a pair of sweeps last week, including a win over the league’s current leader, Fresno State.
In the Rams’ victory over San Diego State on Oct. 25 , Hillyer posted a career-high .800 hitting percentage and added three blocks on defense. Then in Saturday’s victory over the Bulldogs, Hillyer led CSU with 12 kills and .661 hitting percentage on offense, and also racked up four blocks on the defensive side.
Colorado State will finish its conference slate Tuesday night when Wyoming comes to town for Volleyball’s version of the Border War.
